PAYING MY RATES AND WATER CHARGES
You can either pay your rates as a once-off, full-year payment, or by four quarterly instalments.
If you choose the once-off, full-year payment, this will fall due on 31 August each year.
If you choose to pay by quarterly instalments, the due date and amount payable each quarter are shown on your Rates and Charges Notice. You will be sent an instalment notice for the second, third and fourth instalment one month before payment is due. The due dates for rate instalments are always 31 August, 30 November, 28 February and 31 May each year.
What happens if my payments are late?
If your quarterly payment is not paid in full by the due date, you may be charged interest on the amount overdue. The interest charged is simple interest calculated daily, at the rate of 10.5% per annum. Please ensure your payment reaches us by the due date shown on your notice. If you are paying by mail, you should make reasonable allowances for mail delivery to Council.
I’m having difficulty making my payment!
Please contact us in person, or telephone Council’s Rates Section on (02) 6827 1900 in order to make special arrangements for repayments.
See Council’s Financial Hardship Policy for further information.
