Kerbside Waste Collection
Council provides kerbside rubbish collection in the towns and villages of the Local Government Area.
Council encourages households to compost any organic waste, such as food scraps, where possible.
Recycling of many items is available at each of the waste facilities across the Shire. Residents must sort their waste before arrival to recycle accepted materials without charge.
Council encourages residents to make use of the aluminium can and plastic recycling facilities available in Coonamble.
Each household has a Council-approved ‘wheelie’ bin with a red lid. Bins are available for a fee. Garbage collection fees increase for each additional bin.
As garbage collection is undertaken very early in the morning, residents are asked to place their bins at the kerb the night before collection day.
Residents are also reminded that their weekly, kerbside waste collection must use a red-lidded Otto/'wheelie' bin only. Bins with other coloured lids will not be picked up as the lid colour indicates the type of waste within the bin.
Domestic household bins should not be used for green waste, timber off-cuts or metal waste that can make the bin too heavy for the lifting mechanism on the collection truck or cause damage to its compactor. These items can be disposed of at waste facilities.
When do I put my bin out for collection?
Coonamble (east side / main street side of town): bins out on Monday night for Tuesday morning collection.
Coonamble (west side / IGA-side of town): bins out on Wednesday night for Thursday morning collection.
Gulargambone: bins out Tuesday night for Wednesday morning collection.
Quambone: bins out Tuesday night for Wednesday morning collection.
